R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders - Singing in the Bathtub

R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders - Singing in the Bathtub (1978)

Sadly, this is the only other record by R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders. It's chock-full of the weird 20's-esque bluegrass of their previous record. After R. Crumb moved to France, it became more difficult for the band to be together, although they theoretically do play together still, mostly without R. Crumb. Again, another delightful summertime record with a closer that makes me think about post-apocalyptic America for some reason.

R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders - Chasin' Rainbows

R. Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders - Chasin' Rainbows (1976)

A crazy and very danceable bluegrass record by famed comix artist R. Crumb and a bunch of his friends. The combination of wonky, surreal lyrics (there's even a theremin!) with typical Crumb touches on the lyrics (particularly on "Fine Artiste Blues") makes this record one of my favorites to play for a feel-good summertime. Ukuleles are the fucking best. While the title track is the best, the whole record is a must listen.
